World leading grass seed breeder DLF and Seedtech, one of Ireland’s foremost grass and forage businesses, announce new Joint Venture in Ireland
Waterford based Seedtech, part of the Arvum Group, and DLF-TRIFOLIUM, the world’s largest producer of grass and clover seed, have launched a new business - DLF Ireland. The new business, based in Waterford, combines DLF’s global leadership in seed breeding with Seedtech’s local research, development and wholesaling capabilities to provide Irish distributors with the very best in grass and forage seed technology.
The new business will have immediate access to over half of the top 20 varieties on the Recommended List. It will combine DLF’s outstanding breeding technology with Seedtech’s unrivalled knowledge of the Irish market and history of varietal selection to deliver some of the very best varieties and mixtures available anywhere in the world today. The new venture has an exciting portfolio of outstanding new varieties and mixtures selected for launch over the next few years.
Speaking at the launch, newly appointed General Manager of DLF Ireland, Mr Paul Flanagan said “This is a really exciting time for all of us serving the Irish grassland farmer; with the US market opening up to our beef exports, the abolition of dairy quotas and the Government’s well publicised commitment to increasing dairy output by up to 50% over the next few years, new technology will become increasingly important. Our aim is to develop and introduce novel grass and forage varieties and mixtures that help farmers achieve significant yield increases.”
